It's All Relative
It seems like such a cruel joke.
Lately I've been feeling like I'm not enjoying my time with the girls enough. I feel like I need to be one step ahead and have things planned out. I wake up each morning thinking about all of the things that "need" to get done by the end of the day and I go to bed thinking about the next day's activities.
I want to enjoy my time with them more. I want to just sit back and play all day. I want to go to bed feeling like the day was a total waste and I got nothing done because I just spent the day being a kid.
That all sounds nice in theory, but then I'd be miserable and overwhelmed with the inevitable condition the house would be in.
So when do I get to really enjoy them? When do I get to just put my life aside and play? Probably when I'm a grandparent.
I don't know if there's an easy answer. I guess I should just take it a day at a time. Enjoy the times I do get to just play, soak up their energy, and be glad for the time I do have with them.
I suppose there could be worse things to complain about.

Amy, you will have dishes to wash, floors to sweep, and laundry to fold...even when you are a grandma. Your daughters will only be little and want to play with you for about 10-15 yrs. Put cleaning on the back burner, and play. If you need to...incorporate cleaning into your play, but PLAY!
I only tell you this, because I miss my little kids. Now that they are teenagers, they don't want to play...well...at least not what I want to play, if they even want to play or hang out with me at all!...lol.
You can get by with only one hour a day put toward cleaning and the rest of your waking hours should go toward playing (teaching your daughters what is important in life: family). It's allllll gooood! Relax, and let it go...even if friends visit, when you think your house is messy...they will appreciate a mommy, who is more comfortable hanging out with her daughters, than with her shiny clean floors.
Sooo, dawling...take your hair down, and shake it out...life is too short to sweat the small stuff!
