Our Disney Vacation
So, we left early Tuesday morning and decided not to tell Madison where we were going until we got there. Which turned out to be a very good idea (kudos to my husband for the suggestion) since she immediately started acting like the 2 ½ year old that she is. Whining, squirming, fussing, you name it, she was antsy about seeing Mickey and Goofy. She then started asking for a play-by-play rundown of everything we would be doing. “Go to hotel, mommy?” “Go up elevator, daddy?” “Ride train?”
We got to the hotel, unpacked our stuff, and headed out to MGM. The playground, the parade, the Ariel show, visited with some characters, and even encountered our first, well my first, rude person of the visit.
While waiting for the parade, Madison needed to go to the bathroom, so Mark takes her and some lady walks up to me to take his seat. After telling her it was saved, she huffed away muttering about how you’re not supposed to save seats at the parade. Hmmmm, that’s a rule I’ve never heard about and heaven forbid my husband get up to take our child to the bathroom. Apparently the pixie dust couldn’t quite reach a nose that high up in the air.
At one point in the parade there is a section of evil characters, like Cruella DeVille, the Queen from Snow White, and Jafar from Aladdin. Well, I hadn’t noticed, but apparently Madison was covering her eyes as they walked by so Cruella and the Queen decided to walk over and have a little chat with Madison. Cruella was laughing and explained to Madison that there was no reason to be scared. She proceeded to tell her that princesses were a dime a dozen, and that they were the best part of the parade. Oddly enough, she wasn’t scared when they were talking to her, I think she was star-struck. Everyone around us was snapping a ton of pictures and thought it was just too cute. Did I get any pictures? Noooooooo, I was a bit star-struck myself. And Madison went right back to covering her eyes as Darth Vader walked by.
We had quite an early night that first night, we were all in bed and lights out by 6:45pm. Actually, I don’t know who I’m kidding, we had early nights every night.
The second day we did Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning.
By mid-morning, the pixie dust I had been enjoying had seemingly wore off as I laid into a guy that would not get off my heels with his stroller. During season I would have been much more easy going about this since that’s just the way it is, but seeing as there was MORE than enough room to go around me, what with the 10 foot clearance on either side, I was a little miffed. He apologized, Mark took over stroller duty and I found some more pixie dust in the form of a funnel cake.
We headed over to Animal Kingdom after lunch and settled in for the parade there. Which is very cool. They’re able to interact more and really make a point to try to get to everyone. Madison gave a lot of high-fives, got a lot of kisses and had her pony tails pulled by just about everyone.
The third day we did Magic Kingdom again, watched that parade and then had dinner at Chef Mickey’s. I think that was the highlight. Madison was bouncing in her seat, pointing at every character as she saw them, squealing their name and you could just see that she had no idea what to do with her excitement. Luckily she blended right in with every other child there.
Chloe may be allergic to Goofy, which would not sit well with her sister if that pans out to be true. When Goofy came by to visit with the girls, Chloe immediately sneezed on his hand as he was pulling on her foot and he then wiped it in Madison’s hair. She got a kick out of that. Thinking he may not have gotten it all off his hands, he then shook Mark’s hand to be sure. I got a kick out of that.
We checked out of the hotel the next morning and headed home. I’ve already checked the calendar to start planning our next trip there.
We are quickly becoming a Disney bound family.
