Candy, Sugar and Treats....oh my!
The girls were CRAZY last night. At 5pm they were acting like they were already hopped up on a starburst injection. We took them out trick or treating a little early, 6 o'clock, just to get them out of the house. Since we know all of our neighbors we just stayed in the street and let the girls go up to the houses alone. They did really good, but manners were nowhere to be found. Everytime Madison got some candy she whipped around and started running through their yard and shrieking "I got more CANDY!!!", leaving Chloe to fend for herself. She would turn around give them a half-hearted thank you after seeing us mouth a very stern "THANK YOU".
We didn't make it far before Chloe tuckered out. Mark took her home and Madison didn't even notice they were gone until nature called and she too wanted to go home. Then she was looking for her big strong daddy to carry her. Mommy wasn't up to carrying a 35 pound twitching, shouting and jittery witch. She was in her own little world...and it was full of candy.
I was bummed when Madison wanted to go home, but she said, "it's ok mom, I had fun and we can still have more fun handing out candy to everyone else". She's so terrific.
When we got home Mark had himself a nice frosty beverage and Chloe was sitting on the kitchen floor with her candy filled pumpkin on one side of her and a bowl full of skittles, whoppers and m&m's in front of her...mouth so full she couldn't even say hello.
Madison immediately dug into her candy as if she somehow knew she better do so while the gettin's good. She knows mommy's no holds barred streaks don't last forever.
She loved handing out the candy as much as she loved getting it. And the kids coming to our door loved her doing so as well. As long as they held their bucket in one place she would keep filling it.
I hope I did an ok job giving you a picture of the night because our camera battery died after only two pictures. Here's the two I got before we headed out-
