With only three families to work with and still having a hard time finding a date to have a Christmas party, we got together last night. We had thought it might be too soon, but it was still very festive and lots of fun. It was a very yummy dinner party with a gift exchange for the kids and the adults AND Santa stopped by to read a couple books to the kids. Santa had some connections with the Just Read, Florida program so books were a very good fit.
My kids lived up to their usual M.O. of course by not doing what I thought they would, but still doing the opposite of the other.
Chloe greeted him at the front door and then wouldn't get near him during the books. Madison hid behind my leg when he came in and then couldn't wait to hear the books read.
Madison is going through the whole magic of Santa Claus and it's making me feel like a kid again. She has a lot of questions and I'm just chock full of fun and sometimes twisted answers. She wanted to know how Santa knows if she's naughty or nice. I said his elves of course! She wanted to know how his elves know. I said they're everywhere of course! Where mommy? Well, elves come in all shapes and sizes so you'll never know when you're being watched. Some have big, pointy ears, but some have big pointy noses too. Some of those big, pointy noses may be pierced too. Some elves are bigger than others and some are in wheel chairs. Oh, and elves don't like to be pointed at and talked about loudly-that's a quick way to have a flag next to your name on 'The List'.
That answer, my friend, is what I'm hoping not only answers her question but avoids any future embarassments like we had last week in Michaels.
Things have come back to bite me in the ass in the past though, so I'll try to stay on my toes anyway.
