After all the planting and gardening I've been doing over the past couple weeks, we had a strange cold snap last night. It got down to 26 and even our heat was in denial. I woke up to a 67 degree house, and I can't handle that, so I turned the heat on and by 11am it was only up to 68. A slight knot in my stomach started working on me as I was thinking about the possiblity of a broken air/heating unit, the hassle of it, the cost of it and how I'd look in thermal underwear.
Bleh, that image stuck a while.
But, it turned out to be nothing and started it's way to a cozy 72 in the digs by noon.
Supposed to get cold again tonight and I'm hoping the new plants can hang in there. I've planted lots of roses, a few trees, even some blackberry bushes. All of which I'll have to wait a year to enjoy since I bought them as bare root and bulbs. I got some of the roses from my parents yard though so I might see something from those this summer.
All depends on how long the cold lasts and if the ground can warm up again soon.
No thermal undies for plant roots around here.
