Last night was the best Halloween we’ve had yet as parents. Both kids understood the goal of candy, both kids picked out their own outfits, both of them were thrilled (and seriously hyper) all day in anticipation for the night and the best part was we made it through our whole neighborhood. Now, there are only 26 homes in our development so far and not everyone was home so I’m guessing we went to maybe 15 or so homes, but last year they only made it to 4 houses! It was light when we started but quickly got dark and while I couldn’t get a camera smile out of Madison before we left she sure was full of smiles when we got home.
My parents came over as well as my sister with her two girls. Mark and my dad stayed at the house drinking their beer and handing out the candy in the driveway while we headed out.
The girls were thrilled going through all their loot. They also ate way too much of it for anytime of the day and they loved every minute of it.
I told Madison that I heard this story about a Halloween fairy that buys your candy. She was intrigued so I continued on with my lie. I told her that if she left candy on her nightstand the Halloween fairy comes in while she’s sleeping and will buy it from her. She asked how much she should leave and I said it was up to her and depending on what she left would determine how much money the fairy left her. Well, she’s money driven these days so she picked through all her candy before bed and left more than half of it!!
She got $4.98 for the lot. She was thrilled! And she still has the best candy left for today (she was smart, she saved all the butterfingers, kit kats, etc for herself)
Chloe heard the same story but was not interested at all. Her exact words were “No, I’m keeping ALL my candy for me!” Even after waking up and seeing Madison’s money she just wanted to know if she could eat her candy for breakfast.

And if you're asking yourself what is Madison dressed as, please don't say Pocahontas. Three people asked her if that's what she was and she was getting irritated. On one of our last houses the 16 year old boy handing out candy said "hey, are you a jedi?" Oh my lord did that make her night! She wanted to be Obi Wan Kanobi and if she had her way I would have been Princess Leia, Mark would have been Darth Vader and Chloe would have been Yoda. She's in love with Star Wars right now.
Mark's loving it.

Oh, I just love the Halloween Fairy idea! I may try that tonight, even though a day late.
All the girls are beautiful!

Sounds like a great night! Tell Madison I knew right away exactly who she was. Parker was the Captain of the Clone Troopers for heaven's sake. We know our Stars Wars!
